The Band is ideally suited for wedding receptions, but is equally adept at providing music for ceremonies, cocktail receptions, and parties with a variety of vocal and instrumental line-ups. A Message from the Boston Police Gaelic Column of Pipes & Drums

DEVRI -
"the inspiration, the talent, and the rewards of giving back"

Anyone who has heard or seen one of Boston’s brightest Irish groups probably thinks DEVRI is a location to be found somewhere on the Emerald Isle. The truth in the origin of the name is that is represents its three founding members, all Irish born, each who emigrated to America carrying the songs and harmonious talents entrenched deeply in their heart and mind.

"DE" stands for mandolin/guitarist Declan Houton, "V" for fiddle player Kevin Doherty and "RI" for flute/whistle artist Gerry Murphy. Houton and Doherty hail from County Donegal and Murphy from North Tipperary.

For the past decade each played on and off together with a host of Irish and country bands. Each is exceptional in his own right but together they just "clicked."

In 2007 they founded DEVRI. To round out the band they included long time country artist Larry Flint of Cambridge on bass, a masterful performer, Chuck Parrish of Quincy on electric guitar, and Kerry native Stevie O’Callaghan of Burlington on Drums.

The group has the unique skill to captivate audiences. In addition, they are good guys. They can be found regularly on the Boston Irish Music Scene, especially at Mr. Dooley’s Irish Tavern on Broad St. in Boston, where they always play to a packed house. In 2008 Gerry Murphy returned to Ireland but the band has continued to flourish.

Their talents have caught the eye of many artists, and the members of DEVRI are always willing to help out in charitable concerts and worthy events. It is this work that allowed them form a special kinship with the members of the Boston Police Gaelic Column of Pipes and Drums. The Gaelic Column holds a unique place in the hearts of Irish Americans in Boston. They have performed at hundreds of ceremonial and high profile musical events. The Column and DEVRI have collaborated on numerous endeavors including joint performances in New York City during the NYPD 9/11 Memorial Concert held each year in remembrance of the victims of this horrific tragedy.

It is from their relationship with the Boston Police Gaelic Column that they befriended a new and relatively unknown vocal talent Pauline Wells. A Sergeant Detective with the Cambridge Police, she soon became a regular guest with the lads from DEVRI. In 2008 they created and have produced an annual concert titled "A Celtic Crossing. "

This event has raised thousands of dollars for the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Pauline holds deep affection for the members of DEVRI, and is especially fond of Declan Houton, who she calls her "mentor." In 2009, Declan was responsible for mastering her 1st and very successful Cd, "Pauline Wells, "Ready to Play." Last year DEVRI presented a fierce performance as they accompanied Pauline her own concert at Boston’s Historic Wilbur Theater.

From County to Rock, ballads to reels, it is said that music warms the "heart and soul." DEVRI’s eclectic makeup will touch your heart! They represent the culture, the heritage and glamour of sounds of Erin.
